Chocolate Date Slice
These delicious chocolate slice is a great option if you are looking for a healthy alternative to chocolate. Although this is a healthier option it is still important to pay attention to portion sizes as you can easily go over board with your energy intake. These delicious bite size snacks are filling because of the high fibre and healthy fat content making them the perfect snack.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups pitted dates
1 1/2 cups almond meal
1/2 cup pecans (or walnuts)
3/4 cup dessicated coconut
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon boiling water
Peanut butter to serve
Method

1. In a food processor blend the dates, almond meal, pecans and coconut until the
mixture forms a fine crumb
2. Add the honey and continue to blitz until the mixture holds together. If this does not come together comletely, add the boiling water and blitz for another 30 seconds.
3. Press the mixture into a 10cm by 20cm baking tray and place in the freezer for 10 minutes to set.
4. Serve with a thin spread of peanut butter
This will keep well in the fridge for a week. After slicing you can keep it in the freezer if you want it to last longer.
